Flagging Port of Entry on Logs

Question:  What are the regulations on flagging port of entry on driver daily logs?

Question:  Is a motor carrier required to pay for verifications for non-DOT related positions (ie. Warehousing associate - Kmart, Will-call coordinator - Home Depot)?  Is it recommended that a motor carrier pay for any DOT related positions?

Previous Employment History Charges

Question:  On verification of previous employment for a potential driver…  Drug, alcohol and accident information was provided, but I was told I would have to go through a third party online for the employment dates.  The website charges a processing fee to obtain dates of employments.  I had the understanding that the previous employer had to provide that information at no cost to the asking employer under part 391.

Class E Driver - Air brakes

Question:  My driver has a Class E license and the company needs him to drive a vehicle with a GVWR of 26,000 pounds with air brakes.  Can he do so?

Record Retention of Pre-Trip Inspections


Question:  Our drivers fill out a pre-trip inspection form.  Is it a requirement to keep these on file?

Previous Employment History

Question: I have a question about verifying employment. When we verify a drivers work history must we verify the past 3 years or 10 years? I know they have to fill in their applications back 10 years, but do we have to verify back that far if it isn't on DAC?

Mechanic Driving Intrastate Only

Question:  I have a mechanic that currently carries a MO CDL Class B with current restrictions of A & K. Our shop wants him to be able to shuttle a tractor with no trailer to Freightliner, Cummins, etc or vice versa within the state of Missouri.

I plan on building a full driver qualification file to include physical and drug test and all the normal stuff including a road test and put him in the pool.

What does he need his MO CDL license to be in order to do this? Does the Class B work with air brakes on the tractor?

Hours of Service - 70 Hour Rule

Question: If you are over your 70hrs... lets say 25 minutes. Do you have to get back in compliance with the 70 hrs before you take the 34 off?
